Fans Fume At Davido For Wearing Confederate Flag… Here’s What The Flag Means

ochea

Granted, Davido has been trying too hard to act like a Black-American for sometime now and most times his efforts to behave like one appears like that of a white kid that is trying hard to be black. His struggles are obvious.

The latest move by the singer is to wear a clothe with the Confederate Flag on it while in Congo. Perhaps his naivety didn’t allow him to read meaning to the flag

His fans were quick to notice the flag on the jacket he wore today.

So why is the flag controversial?

The Confederate flag – the 13-star saltire in red, white and blue – has come to be recognised as a symbol of the American South. It came into use at the time of the American Civil War, from 1861-65, which was triggered by the issue of slavery.

Supporters of the flag view it as a symbol of ancestry and heritage. To them it represents a distinct cultural tradition of the South that is very different from the rest of the United States.

However, for many Americans, the flag is a representation of slavery, hatred and white supremacy (over black people).
