Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe celebrated his 91st birthday with a lavish party by the spectacular Victoria Falls on Saturday, prompting many Zimbabweans to question once again when he would leave office and who would succeed him.

Thousands of supporters sat in large white tents during the $1.3 million birthday celebration on a rolling golf course near the waterfalls, organised by his ZANU-PF party. His party has said the money was raised from individual and company donations.

The President celebrated with a cake that looked exactly like him, but some people have come out to say the cake looks gross.

INEC Reveals 1.8 Million PVCs Not Collected in Lagos

The Independent National Electoral Commis­sion [INEC] has announced that a total of 1.8 million Permanent Voters cards are yet to be collected by the voters.

Lagos State Resident Electoral Com­missioner, Akin Orebiyi, announced the news yesterday while visiting Governor Babatunde Fashola to demonstrate how INEC card readers would be used during the elections, The Sun reports.

“As at yesterday (Thursday), the total number of cards collected in Lagos to date is three million six hun­dred and ninety three thou­sand out of 5.5 million cards that we collected so far from Abuja. At the moment, we are still expecting another 430,000 cards which should arrive by next week. But meanwhile, we still have in our custody 1.8 million cards yet to been collected.

This morning (Friday) we have again deployed our staff to all the 8,462 polling units across the State to make the collection much more ac­cessible rather than stay at the local government offices where we have been for the past three weeks”, he stated.

He also denied reports that some non-indi­genes of Lagos were denied their PVCs.

“Collection of cards was done practically by every Ni­gerian who registered in La­gos, we didn’t register people based on ethnicity and we are not also distributing card on the basis of ethnic groups.

If indeed there have been issues of delay in collec­tion of cards in certain parts of the State where perhaps non-indigenes populate, it is not a deliberate act, the cards are coming and they belong to the remaining 430,000 cards yet to be received from Abuja.

But principally, our regis­ter has shown that Nigerians from all walks of life and different ethnic groups have been collecting their cards.

We have quite a num­ber of INEC staff who are non-indigenes , out of the twenty electoral officers, five of them that’s a quarter, are non-indigenes. The Head of voter education is from the South-East, my deputy is from South-South, I am from South-West but I’m married to a south-easterner, so we should discourage such in­sinuations,” he said.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has yesterday allegedly exposed plans by the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to become the president of the country by hook or crook.

Speaking to reporters in a press conference, yesterday in Abuja, Director, Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode disclosed that General Mohammed Buhari should watch his back against the scenery of alleged plans by the former Lagos State governor to seize the Presidency of Nigeria by what he described as deception.

However, social analysts read PDP’s allegation as strongly entertaining fears that APC was coasting to victory.

Fani – Kayode who titled his speech as “APC is selling a dummy to the whole world; Tinubu is the real candidate” said;

“Since the formation of the APC it has been an open secret that Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu is its national leader and also its biggest financier. The question that should agitate every Nigerian is why Tinubu has been investing heavily in the APC presidential project to such a point that he has single-handed produced the joint presidential ticket of General Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

“It should baffle well-meaning Nigerians why Senator Tinubu has decided to draft General Buhari, despite his age, acrimonious background and questionable health status, into the presidential race whilst ensuring that his stooge, Prof Osinbajo was foisted on the general as vice presidential candidate.

“The reason, gentlemen of the press, is the subject of this press conference. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Senator Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge.

“You will recall how Senator Tinubu wanted to be running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari in spite of the nationwide resentment for Muslim-Muslim ticket that he and General Buhari planned to foist on their party men and women. Senator Tinubu had justified the ticket by saying that competence was the important thing and not the issue of religion.

“But when he and General Buhari could not push through the agenda within the APC, he (Senator Tinubu), after being given the opportunity to nominate a vice presidential candidate, decided to prop up his stooge in the person of Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

“Now the real reason Senator Tinubu nominated Osinbajo has been made known to us and we hereby offer a public service to the Nigerian people by drawing national attention to it. Credible pieces of information at our disposal indicate that Tinubu has perfected plans to come to power through the back door.

“Senator Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Professor Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins. The wicked plot, as laid out by them, is to force Professor Osinbajo to resign for Senator Tinubu to be nominated by General Buhari as his replacement.

“The ultimate objective of this plot is to ensure that Tinubu becomes President. The script is simple: given the questionable health of General Buhari, Senator Tinubu who is desperate to be president for his own selisfh reasons will simply bid his time in the evil expectation that General Buhari will not be able to go the whole hog.

‘Don Jazzy Wasn’t Invited By D’banj To His 10th Anniversary Show’ – D’Prince

There have been a lot of reaction from fans of D’banj and Don Jazzy over Jazzy’s absence from his erstwhile label mate’s 10th year-anniversary concert which held in Lagos. Don Jazzy’s younger brother, D’Prince has cleared the air on the reason why Jazzy was absent from D’banj’s gig. He said;

‘Don Jazzy was not in town and perhaps, that may be why he didn’t get any invitation. “D’banj is my very good friend and anytime I see him, we hug and talk. There is no beef between us.’

Speaking on relationship with D’banj and DB records, he furthermore said:

‘The truth is that I was not in town when D’banj had his anniversary. Tiwa Savage is pregnant and Dr. Sid is also not in town while Don Jazzy was in South Africa. I was not in town and even before I traveled, I did not get a personal invitation to the event.” Commenting on D’banj’s recent interview where he spoke about how Mo’Hits broke up, D’Prince he said “To be frank, I thought that chapter was closed about two years ago, I never knew that D’banj is still granting interviews regarding the split because I thought we had gone through the whole story, leaked e-mail, hearsays and the likes. I am so happy that D’banj and Mavin Records are doing great. I don’t want us to keep putting the fans in the mishmash. The fans would always be vulnerable. The fans would always want to be entertained and we would always be the puppets that entertain them. “I think D’banj was speaking based on his feelings and the fans reacted. I will always have love for Mo’Hits, DB records and Mavin Records because at the end of the day, it is the music that would keep us relevant. It is what brought us to where we are in the first place. We should all concentrate on our work and progress. We should love one another and not hate. There is no fight or war between us. What matters most is moving forward and making music. I feel that he was pressured to do the interview; he did so and expressed his feelings. I may agree and disagree with some of the things that he said but at the end of the day, I am still going to stick to love, peace and harmony.’

Again, I’m going to go out on a limb here to talk on a subject that may not be very popular or nice to Nigerian celebs, especially the guilty ones. I have said it severally that just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean they are smart. They may have a talent or skill but many of them are not smart especially when it involves their finances. The old saying, “your lies will come back to haunt you” has never been more true than the recent cases of D’banj, Iyanya and Wizkid who are being kicked out of their homes after lying they owned the properties.

The residents of blogosphere boulevard were stunned when the news broke that D’banj got an eviction notice from his landlord and was also said to be highly indebted. Yes, it is hard to believe that someone of D’banj’s status could actually be thrown out of his house. But for those who know that the Nigerian entertainment industry is built on lies and more lies, it didn’t come as a surprise or a case of a cranky landlord. Entertainers are well rehearsed liars. They are not what they make you believe they are. Even the upcoming artist with just one song on radio issues a press release that they’ve bought a mansion in Lekki Phase One and a Range Sport SUV?

There was a time when it was strongly whispered that Don Jazzy and his crew owned Club Jonzing until the truth came out. You must have also heard that D’banj owns Koko Lounge. My brothers and sisters in habit of believing everything you hear, I wish you all knew how your favourite celebs laugh in their closet seeing you swallow the lies like fufu and draw soup. Let me give an example of how some artistes can be terrible liars, we were on a tour of five Nigerian cities with Basketmouth and his then Humour Unlimited monthly show sponsored by BAT. When we got to Enugu, a certain artiste was snoring like a broken trailer exhaust pipe in the bus on our way from the event centre to the hotel. I tapped him hoping to stir him up to reduce his noise but I was shocked when he woke up immediately swearing that he wasn’t snoring, that he was only trying to get our reaction. Our reaction? After snoring for about 20 minutes with a trail of saliva from one corner of his mouth to his shirt collar! O’boy some people can lie in Africa.

Did you hear it on breaking news when Iyanya bought a house in his dreams? His management must have thought it was a fantastic promo strategy then. If only they knew that not far into the future, Iyanya would be dragged by his balls across the floor of the internet, and that his aggrieved brother would take to twitter to inform everyone that Iyanya had been evicted (not from Project shame) from his dream mansion. Yes, it is double wahala for deadi-bodi and the owner of deadi-bodi but won’t it be tripple wahala for Oritsefemi and his management when fans eventually discovered that the N200m mansion he purportedly bought some months back was actually bought in his dreams and not in the real world? How much does he charge per gig and how long has he been playing these gigs to be able to afford a mansion of that amount? Isn’t it wonderful how naija entertainers think their fans and everyone else is shallow and gullible?

Common sense should tell every artiste that these lies won’t achieve anything but hurt their careers in the long run when the truth is eventually revealed. Like it was revealed this week that Wizkid’s car hasn’t been paid for. True, some naija musicians make a lot of money, but not the kind of money they want you to believe. Does Oritsefemi look the part of a N200m house owner even with all his body cream? The telco brand ambassadors who are being coerced into lying about their endorsement fees can’t make such a preposterous claim not to talk of someone with no endorsement deal.

I shivered when I saw in some blogs over the week that Genevieve just bought a house in Ghana for a whopping $4m. This will go down as the grandmother of all lies told so far. Genny baybay, you should have asked yourself if there’s any house worth $4m in the whole of Ghana, except you bought the Ghana National Theatre which by the way may not be worth $4m. These lies are getting dumber by the day. The worst thing that can happen to any man is believing his own lies.

If we had a system where entertainers are taxed for their acquisitions, the ridiculous and unnecessary lies will stop. They will speak the truth and nothing but the truth or so help them God.

Fayose Reveals He Won’t Stop His Personal Attacks On Buhari

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has been tagged as a rabble-rouser over his frequent attacks on APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. The governor released a statement over his attacks on the APC Presidential candidate and explained that it would not stop. The statement reads:

“I remember then as the ad hoc chairman of the PDP committee to shop for the presidential candidate to replace former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a crop of suitable, brilliant, healthy and competent northern politicians‎ in the PDP were shortlisted by me for Obasanjo to pick from, but he overruled the list and asked me to contact the late Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua because he preferred him.”

“In fairness to the late president, he objected to the offer on health ground, but Obasanjo insisted that he must be the president.”

“I am not against the North, rather if Obasanjo had picked from the list of names submitted by my committee to him, certainly, a northerner, replacing Obasanjo would have ruled this country till 2015. As an insider who saw everything and who again have noticed the repeat of the episode of 2006, I must talk.”

“There is nothing bad in allowing President Jonathan from the South to complete the two terms he is allowed constitutionally and in 2019, a real candidate from the North, not one manipulated by the South-West APC, will emerge to take over.‎”

“These APC leaders operate in deceit, the wellbeing of this country is secondary to them. This is the party that ruled Ekiti for just only four years and grounded the state with huge debts.”

“That 2006 scenario is again being re-enacted with Obasanjo and APC leaders branding General Buhari to be the president of this country.”

“I am not wishing General Buhari dead, but the fact remains that he is too old to govern a complex country like Nigeria and we don’t want a president that will govern by proxy.”

Fayose had earlier accused Buhari of travelling to the UK to receive medical attention for a hidden ailment.

Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to Buhari’s speech given at the Chattam house in London by the APC Presidential candidate. The PDP Presidental campaign spokesperson had a couple of things he felt Buhari failed to tell his audience while delivering his lengthy speech.

“We wonder whether General Buhari told his foreign audience whilst he was in London how much he loves Boko Haram. We wonder whether he told his audience that he once said that he believed that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north and that the Boko Haram terrorists should be appeased, pampered, resettled and paid allowances. We wonder if he told them that he was once nominated by Boko Haram to be their spokesman and representative during proposed negotiations with the Federal Government”

“For now, all we can say is that it is truly pitiful that a former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria believes that it is more important to win the hearts and minds of the British than it is to win the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people. General Buhari can run to any foreign country in the world to say anything that he likes but at the end of the day the decision as to who will lead Nigeria as from May 29th this year will be determined by no one else but the Nigerian people. The game is on here and not in London,” he said

Sean Tizzle doesn’t do too many feature so it will be nice to see how he does on a song with the rap heavyweight.
