Mr Nigeria 2014, Emmanuel Ikubese Now UN’s Millennium Development Goals Ambassador

Guess who just became the latest United Natiibs Millennium Development Goals Ambassador!

Its Emmanuel Ikubese, winner of the 2014  edition of Mr Nigeria competition.

He received the honorary Ambassadorship owing to his contribution and overall development of humanity, based on selfless services, creativity and compassion towards human development.

While speaking at the event marking the appointment, he said that the MDGs were some of the things he studied as an International Relations student while in the University, and being appointed as the MDGs ambassador means a whole lot to him.

His new designation as a UN Ambassador for Global Educators for all Initiatives now confers on him many privileges, which he sums up in his own words as being committed to the ideals of the organization.

O.J. Simpson out of jail tomorrow

Onetime sports star, O.J. Simpson could be freed tomorrow from prison in Nevada, where he has been held since 2008 for a botched robbery.

However, the time and place of his release remain secret, his plans largely unknown.

Simpson, 70, won his freedom from a Nevada parole board in July after nine years behind bars, at a hearing that did not take into account his 1990s trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend, Ron Goldman.

The onetime football star turned actor and TV pitchman nicknamed “The Juice” during his playing career was found not guilty in 1995 following that sensational, 13-month trial in Los Angeles, which was televised live daily, transfixing much of the nation.

A civil court jury subsequently found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million in damages to the victims’ families, a judgment that remains largely unpaid.

The Nevada Department of Corrections, seeking to avoid the kind of media frenzy that often accompanies Simpson, has declined to say exactly when and where he would be released.

A department spokeswoman warned media not to try to chase his vehicle from the prison gates, saying officials could postpone the release for weeks if necessary to avoid “risk to the community” from such a frenzy.

Also unclear is the former star athlete’s ultimate destination. He told parole board members he hopes to move to Florida, where he has friends and family, a plan that must be approved by probation authorities there.

During the parole hearing, Simpson joked that he was willing to stay in Nevada, but “I‘m sure you don’t want me here.”

His Las Vegas-based attorney, Malcom LaVergne, reiterated the Florida plans during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” program on Friday, adding that his client was looking forward to spending time with family members, eating steak and seafood and buying an iPhone.

Florida corrections officials say they had not received a parole transfer request for Simpson and had not been contacted by their counterparts in Nevada.

Simpson is a native of California, born in San Francisco, and played his final years as a pro football player for that city’s team, the 49ers. He lived in Los Angeles at the time of the murders.

But California corrections officials say he has not filed papers to live in that state either.

Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has disclosed why he is in support of Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose‘s intention to run for presidency in 2019.

Fani-Kayode who was spotted at the event Fayose held to declare his intention, said that the governor “has done an excellent job in his Ekiti state and he has consistently and fearlessly stood against the evil of the Buhari administration”.

Fani-Kayode made the disclosure in a statement to PUNCH. The statement read in part:

We come from completely different backgrounds and we do not agree on everything but we have a similar disposition and we share the same perspective on most things.

He is not bound up in fear and he is not chained down by political correctness. He speaks the raw and bitter truth and he stands up for the weak and the defenceless.

Like me he moves in the prophetic and his source of strength is the Spirit and power of God.

We both love God and we are both men of strength, courage, faith and destiny.

The Spirit of David and Jehu runs through us both. We neither fear death nor incarceration and we hate injustice, evil and oppression.

The truth is that he has done an excellent job in his Ekiti state and he has consistently and fearlessly stood against the evil of the Buhari administration and constantly kept them on their toes.

He is a Yorubaman who has the courage and conviction to say that he wants to be President. Why would I not stand with him and attend the launching of his campaign?

Former Pastors accuse MFM International of Fraud & Tax Evasion in the U.S.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has been accused of fraudulent activity, the illegal importation of goods to the U.S by former pastors and members of its branch in Bowie, Maryland.

The accusation followed a lawsuit filed by MFM International, Lagos and MFM, USA against the former pastors – Lawrence Adetunji and Ronke Adetunji – and members over real property described as 5506 and 5503 Church Road in Bowie, Maryland acquired by MFM, Bowie in 2001 and 2004 respectively.

Joined in the suit is Christ the Truth Ministry, the successor of MFM Bowie.

According to Sahara Reporters, MFM International claims that the property acquired with the contributions and offerings of the members of MFM in Bowie are property of MFM headquarters by way of trust.

MFM International added that since the pastors and most members have decided not to associate with the church, they should hand over the property to MFM headquarters.

The defendants made their accusation in a counterclaim, stating that they decided to leave the denomination after discovering that plaintiffs had willfully and intentionally evaded U.S. Customs Service duties and had evaded tax payments to the United States Government by shipping prayer books to the U.S., with a cover letter stating that they were donations but later gave instruction to pastors to sell the books to parishioners.

The defendants stated that the practice had been going on for years but they only discovered it in 2015 and being that they could not “influence or change their behavior, had to sever all ties in order to curtail their (defendants’) unwitting participation in plaintiffs’ illegal actions.”

The defendants claimed that MFM International cannot lay claim to the property as it made no contribution to its acquisition even after they were asked for assistance by way of loan. They declared that no valid trust was created over their property for the benefit of the plaintiffs.

The case, filed in the Circuit Court for Prince Georges’ County of Maryland, U.S.A., (Case No. CAL16-26532)  comes up for hearing on October 14, 2017.

MFM International General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya is expected to get into the witness box at the hearing.

I Rejected Millions From Politicians To Change My Message – Sound Sultan

While Interviewed on ‘Saturday Beats’. Sound Sultan disclosed that he rejected millions from politicians to change his message.

He explained how that decision came with a heavy price saying he could have been richer and/or more famous if he changed his tune but he did not.

In his words;

“I sacrificed a lot in my career because I didn’t want to contradict my message. Do you think I don’t want money from politicians? They offered me millions but then, I cannot eat my own words. I have to stand for what I believe in. The most important thing to me is the people. I don’t regret refusing the money they offered me because it is not who I am. With due respect to those that collect money from politicians, I am a very contented person. If it is not in line with my principles, no one can tempt me. It is just the way I live my life. I am into the message I preach.

“The problem is that the people that we are trying to reach with these messages are divided already. They are divided by money, tribe, political parties and other factors. I am trying to represent one Nigeria but they would not let me be. Sadly, the same people you are trying to represnt would accuse you of collecting money from a political party. The most important thing is to sustain the message and those who want to listen would do so.

“Anytime you have an opportunity to lend your voice, please do. It is not until something happens to you that you have to lend your voice to a cause. If you find yourself in a position where you can use your voice and people can reach out to you for a cause because you have a lot of following on social media and your word is your bond; if you are called to support a cause, you need to selflessly support it. Once you realise that it is a well- meaning cause, support it.”

Infamous Billionaire kidnapper Evans desperately request for a bible in Kirikiri prison

A group of Christians from a Pentecostal church who were on a routine visit to Kirikiri prison in Lagos, recently, were shocked when they came face-to-face with the notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumebi Onwuamaegbu aka Evans, who has pleaded guilty to the charge of kidnapping and was remanded by court in the prison.

Reports said the Christians, were in the prison on a Sunday, just few weeks after Evans was remanded and after routine checks, they demanded to pray for the notorious kidnap suspect.

Vanguard learned that prison officials reluctantly agreed to their request and later brought the suspect to them. Events took a dramatic turn immediately Evans saw the Christians with their bibles and scapulars as he was said to have made desperate request for a bible.

The bewildered preachers quickly obliged him with a new bible which he clutched intimately like a new born baby and thanked them profusely for the gift. The leader of the group who was visibly happy with the request announced that it was a show of repentance.

Thereafter, they were said to have prayed for him after which he joyously went back to his private cell in the prison.

Sources at the prison revealed that Evans was openly shedding tears when he was brought to court the day his trial commenced in Ikeja. The source who sought strict anonymity told Crime Guard:

“We were in with other suspects that day when Evans was brought to court with the official vehicle of a top police officer in Laprison gos. He was shedding tears uncontrollably.

Then, after he was remanded, we took him to Kirikiri prison where he will stay pending his trial. Immediately we entered the prison yard with him, there was a tumultuous ovation by the inmates. In fact, he was giving a presidential treatment by the inmates. It was so much that he started responding by raising his hands with a white handkerchief while the resounding ovation continued. “That must have been why strict instructions were quickly given about him over his stay. We have a very strict Deputy Controller here and he planted informants who send him daily reports on the activities of both the inmates and prison officials. His strictness made it impossible for Evans, in particular, to have access to telephones or any electronic gadget inside his cell. In fact, he is staying in a private cell and only comes out to meet other prisoners under strict observations. We do not allow any visitor to see him. So far, the only visitors who have met with him were his brother and lawyer and they did that while being closely watched. Definitely not everyone is disturbed with the ongoing brouhaha in the Okoye Family.

Many believe that all the stuff is just publicity stunt and this includes Veteran broadcaster, Kenny Ogungbe, popularly known as Baba Keke.

Kennis music boss, Kenny Ogungbe has written off the latest conflict in the Okoye family as just a shameless publicity stunt.

Following the much publicized falling out of the Okoye brothers, with several celebrities and Nigerians commenting on the crisis that happened some days back.

Kenny Ogungbe, speaking on his Kennis Music Radio last Wednesday, said the latest Okoye family feud is nothing but a mere publicity stunt.

“I am sure they have a massive show coming up in December and they are using this as a publicity stunt. They have over 100 songs and people who called us on the radio within 15 minutes, requested for about 29 of their songs.

“If you are breaking up after recording about 100 songs, will you break up to record another big song as a solo artiste? At what age? How many songs are they going to release that would be up to what they have released already? At what age do they want to do that when people are interested in listening to songs released by younger artistes?

Quote me anywhere that I said it is a game. In the video that was released online, Paul said it was a shame to Peter. It is a game (laughs). Quote me anywhere that I said that it is a game but if they don’t get back together, good luck to them,” .
