Kayode Fayemi has announced his resignation from his post as the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, The Cable reports.
Fayemi said this while speaking to journalists at a press briefing in Abuja.
The former minister has been elected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) representative at the Ekiti State gubernatorial elections later this year.
He had previously revealed that he’d resign from his post in a week.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, hosted the Super Eagles at the presidential villa, to a farewell reception ahead of their trip to Russia to the World Cup.
The meeting came hours before the team’s scheduled flight to London for a pre-World Cup friendly against England’s Three Lions at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles will move to Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Austria where they’ll spend eight days, and play another pre-World Cup friendly against the Czech Republic next Wednesday, before flying to Russia for the 2018 World Cup scheduled to start on June 14th.

ABC Entertainment has announced the cancellation of the rebooted version of Roseanne, said to be America’s number one sitcom following comedian, tv producer and show star Roseanne Barr‘s joke on Twitter comparing a Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr referring to Jarrett, tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Barr, in a series of tweets attacked Valerie Jarrett, Chelsea Clinton and George Soros.
ABC’s president Channing Dungey said in a statement: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
Dungey’s statement was quoted by Disney Chairman Robert Iger, who tweeted that “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”
Barr’s management company ICM Partners also announced on Tuesday, in a statement to Variety, that it would cut ties with Barr. “We are all greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable tweet from Roseanne Barr this morning. What she wrote is antithetical to our core values, both as individuals and as an agency. Consequently, we have notified her that we will not represent her. Effective immediately, Roseanne Barr is no longer a client.”
Barr later apologised and said she was leaving Twitter:
She later posted a series of tweets, asking that her followers not defend her.
In an attempt to provide an explanation for her comments, Barr said she was under the influence of the sleeping drug Ambien.

Barr also continued to share tweets from other Twitter users who showed support for her. The users compared her comments with others made by other comedians and media personalities like Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher and Joy Behar.
Jarrett was due to speak on MSNBC’s “Everyday Racism” town hall before the controversy. While there, she was asked to respond to the news which she said: “I think we have to turn it into a teaching moment. I’m fine. I’m worried about all the people out there who don’t have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense.”

Zone 2 Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force Dolapo Badmus, in an Instagram post on the country’s democracy day, stated why “friends and families of any erring police officer should be blamed for their misconduct”.
Her dad had advised her to be of good conduct after she graduated from the police academy in 2002, she said, calling on friends and families of police officers to consciously support and remind them to be good ambassadors.

officers and men out there are products of families and communities, each and everyone of us should strive to be a good representative of our families and communities!
I could remember as I passed out from Police Academy in the year 2002, a visit to my father was met by a deluge of advice, he used almost 2hours to lecture me and remind me of how my joining the Police is to serve the country and not to take advantage of anyone, every time before his departure to the great beyond he calls to remind me that I should be a good ambassador of my family !!! That’s the word “Good Ambassador “ Every police officer must be consciously supported and be reminded by family members on how to remain the family’s good ambassadors, I’ll bet if our family members are on our cases we probably won’t have anyone of us doing what is illegal and abnormal. As police officers we are supposed to be above board shunning any form of corruption and human right abuse! The long and short of the story is that friends and families of any erring police officer should be blamed for their misconduct!! It’s time for every family and communities that have a loved one in the police to reach out to them and start reminding them to be good ambassadors to them and by extension Nigeria!
Lest I forget Happy Democracy Day to Nigeria and Nigerians. God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria, God bless Nigeria Police Force!!

Popular hairstylist Idowu Oluwatosin Olakunle has narrated, on his Instagram page – @highdtosin – how he was locked up for hours by the Nigeria Police force for looking like a gay person, too slim, and like a girl.
He was stopped in Ojota, he wrote on his Instagram, and was asked to introduce himself.
After he produced his ID card, he said the policemen complained he looked like a girl, acted effeminate, was gay, and eventually detained him. He wrote:
So this morning by 9am, I was on my way to style someone at Ogudu, I entered a public transport and was stopped by a guy at Ojota who asked me to introduced myself I asked why he said his police, they asked for my ID card I showed them, then he said I looked like a girl in my ID and that was how they started yelling and calling me names, then they took me and put me in their bus, took me all the way from Ojota to IWAYA POLICE POST then I asked what my offence was, they said I look like GAY, INDECENT ACT and I’m too SLIM that I’m a witch and I’m looking derain in nature . I was locked up from 9am – 4pm before they release me I was told to pay a sum of 5,000 naira. Please since when did been slim become an offence in LAGOS. I was unjustly maltreated today by the POLICE and I demand justice.

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he will be signing the “Not Too Young to Run” bill into law very soon.
The president revealed this while addressing the nation on Tuesday, Democracy Day.
He said: “In few days to come, I will be joined by many promising young Nigerians to sign into law the “Not Too Young to Run” Bill.”
The bill had been sent to the president after 24 states (two-thirds) in the country assented to it.
The National Assembly had also passed the bill, which will alter Sections 65, 106, 131, 177 of the Constitution to reduce the age qualification for president from 40 to 30; governor from 35 to 30; senator from 35 to 30; House of Representatives membership from 30 to 25 and State House of Assembly

Actress Tonto Dikeh’s ex husband, Olakunle Churchill, has reacted to claims by a lady, identified simply as Zainab Rufai, that he dumped her after helping him.
Zainab also claimed that Churchill could not be trusted.
While reacting to the story, Churchill stated that the allegation was just to seek attention, insisting that he never had a close relationship with Zainab.
He told Vanguard, “This is very funny to me and I must give her kudos for a well scripted write-up to drag me out. I certainly know she has join forces with the #mustbringdownchurchillgang to portray me as evil before the public.
“In truth, Zainab was known to me at her young age and we shared some closeness but no engagement or marriage proposal of any sorts.
“It’s unfortunate that public opinions have been swayed in her direction but I don’t want to give attention to her and all she had said as they were well cooked and garnished by the same source and group that have been blackmailing me.
“A wise man once said that not all relationship leads to marriage and some friends are for a reason, some for a season and some for a lifetime. Zainab, who recently contacted me for financial assistant, which I rendered to her, was one of those flying visitors in a man’s life.”

In a chat with GoldmyneTV, the handsome man said apart from inheriting his physique from his parents, staying indoors had helped him to stay healthy.
Above 50-year-old, he explained:
“I inherited my looks, but I don’t eat everything I see and I don’t go everywhere. I am a very domesticated person; I like staying indoors, which preserves my strength. Even whenever I am on location, I stay in my room and listen to music; people only see me whenever I am driving in and out.
On music he listens to, Solade said:
“I listen to all forms of music, but I like Nigerian hip-hop a lot because it is our own. I like Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Real, Slimcase and others because they have changed the game. I grew up dancing to Michael Jackson’s and other foreign songs, but we now listen to Nigerians.
“This is good for Nigeria and we have been able to replicate this too in Nollywood. We have reduced the way Nigerians depend on foreign movies.”

Dino who was hospitalized after his faceoff with the police last month, appeared on the floor of the senate in a white attire and a bandage wrapped around his neck.
