70 Nigerians in detention in Abidjan


An official statement from Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cote D’Ivoire, Ambassador Ifeoma Akabogu-Chinwuba has stated that about 70 Nigerians are currently facing trials in Abidjan for various offences.


Ambassador Chinwuba stated that a list from the prison authorities showed about 85 names in detention but the Ambassador expressed that only they where only able to see 70 them when they visited the prisons.


Majority of these Nigerians where detained mostly for human trafficking, drug and money laundering.


The Ambassador also made it known that they were willing to offer legal assistance to those of them still awaiting trial.
