There has been a lot of controversy in the last couple of days over Australia’s Stephen Davis who has been making negotiations with Nigerian military group, Boko Haram naming some top politicians as Boko Haram sponsors. The Nigerian Government has however come out to deny any links to the Australian negotiator as they declared they didn’t hire him.
Mike Omeri, Coordinator of the National Information Centre explained the Government’s side of the accusations as he explained that there are no plans to prosecute those named as sponsors of Boko Haram. Mr Davis declared that former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika are Boko Haram sponsors and wasn’t scared of them suing him for revealing the truth.
“For now nobody has been hired by the government to negotiate on its behalf with Boko Haram. Anytime the government decides to do so, it will make it known to the public.
“The government is still investigating the allegations made by the alleged negotiator. However, the government has no plan to question anybody because of those allegations made by the Australian,” Mike Omeri explained
