The 2014/2015 Premier League So Far

EPL August 2014 Review 1

We all expected a really good season and so far it hasn’t disappointed. The off season got so much excitement with so many summer signings, a few shocking ones, the loan signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco, who is beginning to find his feet at Manchester United while former Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas who left Barcelona for Chelsea and has been a catalyst in Chelsea’s great season leading the assist table with 14assists to his name. A few expected ones like the homecoming of Didier Drogba, who hasn’t done bad for his Chelsea side since returning racking in goals and Diego Costa, who has been brilliant for Chelsea with 14 goals so far and a few signings which have paid off, notably Alexis Sanchez, who already has 10 goals in the competition, Alex Song, Diaffra Sakho and also the return of Andy Carroll (from a lengthy spell on the sidelines) all of West Ham, Graziano Pelle of Southampton who already has 8 goals in the league. Gyfil Sigurdsson, Wilfried Bony, Chalie Austin and Saido Berahino have helped their sides in maintaining good standings in the league.

Sure most fans predicted so many things has the season unfolded and got disappointed. The season started with Southampton, Spurs and Chelsea dominating and as expected United started on a bad note with all their up and downs in the transfer market, we witnessed Man City draw with both Arsenal and Chelsea in the early stages to add to their struggles while Leicester City came from behind to beat United in a dramatic game. Then we saw Sunderland and Spurs dip in form in October and Everton still coming to terms with EPL and Europa football but two teams who kept us all in shock were WestHam and Southampton who so far have remained in the top6, surpassing season expectations with really impressive football at Upton Park and the St Mary’s. Arsenal and Liverpool have never been consistent with both teams having problems defensively and upfront, never really got their selves running but Man City on the other hand found their feet after a bad start to the season to close the gap on Chelsea before New Year’s day action.

And surely we can’t have a fun first half of the season without having managerial casualties; Neil Warnock of Crystal Palace was the first to get the sack with Alan Pardew making a shocking return to South London, managerial casualty no2 was Alan Irvine of WestBrom, I personally liked him, he got West Brom playing a certain way but unfortunately that wasn’t enough. It’s been an awesome drama filled season so far lets hope it never ends. Happy New Year.
