The fight against the Ebola virus has gotten even more real as all stakeholders have decided to put all hands on death to drive out this epidemic from Nigeria. The Nigeria Custom service has taken precautionary actions as they seized a trailer containing smoked meat suspected to be that of Monkey’s being smuggled into the country via Jibia border in Kastina State.
Monkey is said to be one of the major carriers of the virus which has caused the death of not less than five Nigerians.
The trailer loaded with the meat was seized by the Federal Operation Unit “zone B” led by OC of the team, Assistant Comptroller, Gambo Azare.
He further said that when the consignment was intercepted, officials of National Agency for Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was contacted who advised that the seized meat be destroyed within 24 hours.
