Boko Haram: Multiple Explosions, Gunshots Rock Maiduguri As Residents Run For Their Lives

Multiple explosions and sporadic gunshots ,yesterday, rocked London Ciki and Mairi general areas behind University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and University Teaching Hospital (UMTH), in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Although details on the attack and the number of casualties are stll sketchy, but sources said, “the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) where detonated by suspected Boko Haram terrorists when invading the city at about 11pm on Friday, but they were however repelled by security operatives which led to the exchange of gunfire.”

And the Boko Haram insurgency continues as there have been reports that Alimineri village and one other village along Maiduguri, Konduga road were equally attacked by members of the Boko Haram insurgents. The two villages were reportedly burnt down and scores killed while hundreds have fled their homes.

A resident of Alimineri village who escaped to Maiduguri disclose told DailyPost on Saturday that, when the insurgents were overpowered by the military on their way to attack Maiduguri, they attacked the villages around 2am.

Some of the locals who were trapped in their homes were burnt alive alongside their property. Some were gundown while trying to escape. Women, children, young men and old were not spared by the insurgents. It took the grace Allah for us to have escaped.” Mallam Aji Mallum said.
