The University of Lagos on Sunday honored some of its most famous alumni which inclouded Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo and the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ude Oko-Chukwu.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, described the occasion as the proudest moment in the history of the university
“We have shown and we always pride ourselves as the leader in the nation. We have just used this occasion to prove to the whole world that the University of Lagos (Unilag) is the leading university in Nigeria.
“We not only harbour the governors and the Vice President but we were able to bring them all together under a roof to be honoured this way. I believe it shows how they take the University of Lagos as their Alma Mata and the pride they have, belonging to the University of Lagos.”
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, believes that the university’s investment has been rewarded.
“More importantly, three of the Governors all passed through the Department of Accounting in the university and it shows that the Faculty of Business Administration is producing the best in Nigeria or anywhere in the world,” he said.
