Barely 48 hours after the doctor who reportedly attended to Mr Sawyer, the Liberian man who died of Ebola virus in Lagos Nigeria was diagnosed with the virus, it has also been reported that the Matron at the hospital who also took care of Mr Sawyer has also began showing symptoms of the virus.
The Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association,Lagos State chapter Dr. Tope Ojo, disclosed that the matron of the hospital was one of the several health workers who attended to him prior to his demise on July 25th.
He said
“We know that the infected doctor is stable, however, the matron is showing symptoms too. But everybody, including the experts from the World Health Organisation, are doing all they can.Strike or no strike, we must respond to emergencies. Our doctors are at the Yaba hospital where isolated contacts are being monitored.”
