The Nigeria Senate has said it will move to halt the proposed increment of data prices from December 1, 2016. Deputy Senate Leader, Ibn N’Allah raised the motion during a plenary motion on Wednesday.
The Senate mandates the NCC to to carry out through oversight on the process to ensure that Nigerians are carried along in the process. It also mandates NCC to ensure that Nigerians are not short changed.
Senate further mandates the NCC to investigate the allegations of failure of the service providers. ” It is very important that we protect the people that brought us here this is the height of irresponsibility by NCC.
Senators in all totality condemned the increase of data Tariffs by the service providers in tandem with NCC. “…at this time without any consultation from the statistics it is almost four times the price” Bukola Saraki said.
Senate now resolves to halt the new tariff approval.
