Zlatan Ibrahimovic breaks all-time goal scoring record for Sweden

Ibrahamovich

After making his international debut in 2001, Ibrahimovic scored his first goal for Sweden in his competitive debut – a 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier.

Since then Sweden’s enigmatic captain has gone on to score some of the most memorable goals in recent international history.

The 32 year-old’s playing days are slowly coming to an end but they are doing so in style.

The PSG man uncharacteristically thanked the fans after the 50th strike as he took off his shirt at the risk of a

yellow card to display a shirt that translated to “I couldn’t have done it without you”. It took the forward 99 matches to reach the 50 goal mark for Sweden. That translates to about an average 0.5 goals

per match.
