10. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberia)
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is the 24th and current President of Liberia, in office since 2006. She served as Minister of Finance under President William Tolbert from 1979 until the 1980 coup d’état, after which she left Liberia and held senior positions at various financial institutions. She placed second in the 1997 presidential election won by Charles Taylor. She won the 2005 presidential election and took office on 16 January 2006, and she was a successful candidate for re-election in 2011. Sirleaf is the first elected female head of state in Africa.
Master of Public Administration (M.P.Adm.), Bachelor of Economics (BEc), Associate Degree in Accounting (A.A.). She studied at the College of West Africa and the Madison Business College. She joined the Economics Institute in Boulder, Colorado, in 1970. She has a Masters degree in Public Administration.
9. Faure Gnassingbe (Togo)
Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is a Togolese politician who has been the President of Togo since 2005. Prior to his election, he was appointed by his father, President Gnassingbé Eyadéma, as Minister of Equipment, Mines, Posts, and Telecommunications, serving from 2003 to 2005.
He has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A), Bachelor of Business (B.B.A) Faure Gnassingbe completed his secondary education at Lome. He earned a degree in financial business management at Paris and an MBA at The George Washington University in the USA.
