Ivory Coast Defender Serge Aurier Handed 2months Jail Term

Ivory Coast and PSG full back Serge Aurier, 23 has been handed a 2 months jail term.

The right back was involved in an altercation with a French police man in Paris in May after leaving a night club. Aurier refused to take a breathalyser test as he got into his car outside a nightclub on the Champs Elysées. He allegedly elbowed the policeman in the throat during the process.

Along with 2 months jail term, he was also fined €600 (£521) and is asked to pay €1,500 to cover court costs.

Aurier is expected to avoid time behind bars as his “convertible” sentence means he is more likely to do community service and pay a heftier fine.

This is not the first time the defender is involved in an off field drama. In an interview he described his team mate Di Maria as a clown, he also made derogatory remarks about his former manager. He was suspended by his club both times. He also described a referee as “dirty son of a bitch” for sending off his former team mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a Champions League match against Chelsea. He was also suspended by UEFA
