Kano State Government Plans To Introduce Road Safety Education In Schools

Following the approval given by the National Council on Education on introducing road safety education in a new educational curriculum of primary and secondary schools in the country, the government of Kano state has stated it is committed to follow this new development.

Prof. Hafiz Abubakar the acting governor of Kano State made this known as he received the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi in place of Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was unavailable during the visit.

A live press statement released by the Head of FRSC’s Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar said the early introduction road safety education is important in order to ensure safer roads.

“We are happy that you have decided to give due consideration to the strategic position of the state as one with high concentration of vehicle population and huge traffic management challenges.

“I assure you that we would look into the proposals you made on the partnership during your last visit to the Governor.” Professor Abubakar said.

He also added that: “But let me assure you that the issue of introducing road safety education in the education curriculum of our primary and secondary schools as approved by the National Council on Education would be looked into immediately.”
