Music anywhere is not as interesting as it should be without rift and caucus. American music is highly characterized by the presence of rift between artistes most especially hip hop, and a song is mostly incomplete without a hip-hop artiste throwing shots at the other.
Nigerian music game on the other hand most times doesn’t involve the use of lyrics but instead they use social media to attack each other. Often times, snubbing each other at events is another way to go although in Fuji and Afrojuju genre of music, artistes throw straight and heavy subliminal at the party(ies) they are not cool with.
With rapper Sinzu and Davido performing on stage together on Friday at the 2015 SXSW, we take a look at some of the musical rifts that has been resolved.
The cold war between Davido and US based Nigerian rapper Sinzu a.k.a Saucekid started after Davido started performing the latter’s song at his concerts. The two collaborated on Sinzu’s last hit song, Carolina.
Sinzu was totally not cool with the pop star making money off his song without paying him a dime as royalty. The last time Davido performed the song was about 3 years back after accepting the song doesn’t belong to him.
The two performed the song together for the first time in years at the just concluded SWSX. They also hung out after the gig in Austin, Texas which signaled the end of their rift.
