At about 9p.m Sunday night, 4 heavily armed gunman invaded the Independent National Electoral Commission’s collation centre at United Christian Primary School, Apapa in Lagos State.
Before the armed men could carry out any attack soldiers stationed around the centre quickly stepped in to face them.
“We don’t know their exact mission. Maybe they have come to kill or just to cause confusion. For whatever reason they have come with arms and ammunition we are grateful that the soldiers sighted them in time and neutralised their attempt,” the witness said preferring to be anonymous.
He however said that two of the armed men escaped. 25 rounds of ammunition were found on them.
The result announcement scheduled for Sunday by INEC, the source said had been postponed.
